on the front cover of ben howard every kingdom. there is a colour scheme of blue and white of an ocean. it has ben howard diving in the ocean at the bottom of the front cover. the colours begin at the top with white and gradually turn to a dark blue when it get to the bottom. i presume this is to represent depth in the album.
the use of the ocean on the front cover and him being in it is to represent the freedom of himself and of his music. this is shown by him diving into the darkness, giving you the sense that there is no end to his ability to create music.
inside of the album there is a personal note from ben howard himself thanking people for making his debut album possible. this is to give people a personal connection to him and his music and letting him be closer to his audience.
the disc itself is plain with only white writing to distinguish from the black background. this i feel is to represent simplicity and to make a statement that his music speaks for itself and doesn't need a 'fancy' disc design.
the back of the cover has the names of his tracks descending. but doesn't have any numbers telling the listener what tracks what. i perceive this as ben howard showing that he rates all his music the same level and doesn't want to put a number on the tracks.
throughout the album cover there is a element of simplicity this ranging from the colour schemes to the font. this is to help ben Howard break out into the industry and establish himself to the indie genre his known for.
